A Guide to Setting Up Smart PSS Software


Smart PSS is a type of software that lets you control and manage your security cameras. It works in both Windows and Mac and allows you to change configuration settings, playback footage from your devices, and even view footage remotely. If you’re new to the Smart PSS software, don’t worry. These handy tips will help you set it up and get you started within a matter of minutes.


How to add a device using the P2P/Serial number


  • Download the Smart PSS software from their website.

  • Open up the software and click the ‘Devices’ on the Main Menu.

  • Click the ‘+Add’ button to add a new device.

  • You’ll notice a ‘Manual Add’ window appear. Click the ‘Method to Add’ and change it to the serial number (SN).

  • Check the serial number of your device. You can locate this on the underside of the unit or by looking it up at the device’s info section.

  • Input the serial number in the SN box.

  • Input the username and password for the device you’re adding.

  • Click the ‘Add’ button and the new device will now appear on the Device List.

  • Go back to the main page of the software and click the ‘Live View’ button.

  • Choose the new device from the Device List.

  • Your new device should now be ready to go.


Now that you’ve added your device to the Smart PSS, it’s time to playback recorded video from the device.

How to playback from a device in Smart PSS

  • Open Smart PSS.

  • Click the ‘Playback’ icon from the Main Menu.

  • The device tree on the left will show all of the devices you’ve added to the Smart PSS.

  • For devices with multiple streams/channels, click the ‘Play’ icon to view all the channels.

  • Use the checkbox near each channel you intend to search for.

  • You can adjust the parameters of the search by using the drop-down boxes on the left side of the screen. This includes record type, stream type, and time.

  • Once the parameters have been adjusted, click ‘Search’ to begin the search based on the set parameters.

  • Double-click an entry in the list to start playback.

  • You can control the playback by using the controls below the video pane.
