Backing up footage on an NVR using a USB Drive
If you need to back up footage on an NVR/DVR, you will need a USB flash drive to store the files. Backing up footage is relatively easy and allows you to view the footage anywhere using your own software. Here’s how to do it:
From the main menu, click the ‘Back Up’ icon.
Plugin your USB drive on one of the USB ports of the NVR.
A pop-up window will appear. Select the ‘File Back-Up’ option.
Click ‘Browse’ and choose a folder for the destination of the file once it’s saved.
Choose ‘Type’ such as Motion Detect (MD) or Alarm.
Choose the Start and End time of the footage you wish to backup.
Select ‘Channel’ to add what you’ve selected.
Start the backup process by clicking ‘Start’.
Your chosen video footage should now be backed up.
Backing up via Smart PSS
If you wish to backup footage on Smart PSS, then you will need a different approach. The process is pretty straightforward and here’s how to do it:
From the Main Menu, click the ‘Playback’ button.
From the left side of the window, click ‘Device’ then ‘Camera/s’. You can add more than one device if you so choose.
Select the Record type. The drop-down menu allows you to check the boxes based on the type of footage like All Records, General, Alarm, Motion Detection (MD) and Intelligent Analysis.
Choose the stream type (Main Stream or Sub Stream)
Choose the date and time.
Choose the timeframe and click on the time clip.
Select the Start and End time of the footage you want to backup.
Click on the time clip again and choose the destination folder for the file.
Select ‘OK’.
The backup process should start now.
Once completed, you can now view the backup file on the designated folder.
